Restoring dignity and bringing people back into society
The resources exist to ensure no one is left behind, and we’re working to get them where they’re needed most.
Our Approach
Integrity, equality and respect inform how Helium Capital engages with the world beyond investment. With more than 14 years supporting people out of homelessness and as an ambassador for the UK’s largest hygiene poverty charity, founder Shamir Dawood has seen how a lack of access to basic needs directly impacts a person’s wellbeing.
Working with key partners, we’re addressing gaps in hygiene poverty and homelessness, restoring dignity through access to essentials.
Our partnership with The Hygiene Bank
Over 4.2 million adults in the UK are living in hygiene poverty, meaning they’re not able to afford basic hygiene products like shampoo and soap. We’ve partnered with the country’s leading charity tackling this problem, The Hygiene Bank, to break the cycle of hygiene poverty for families, starting with a brand new pilot programme in west London.
With a focus on the wellbeing of children and young people, our three-year partnership aims to address hygiene poverty as a barrier to school attendance and long-term economic participation.
Our work with Crisis
Our principal charitable partnership is with Crisis, through its Housing Access Fund. This support has helped more than 700 people at Crisis’ central London Skylight move towards lasting housing and rebuild stability in their lives.
Impact is assessed in line with HM Treasury’s Green Book principles and, as of the end of 2025, this work is estimated to have saved the public purse more than £1.7 million.
